Wait, don’t wild beardies live in the desert covered in sand. Also, the calcium sand is meant to be digestable so as to not harm them. Even though I have the reptile carpet. I have friends with very healthy beardies using calcium sand. I think some things people should stop critizing unless it really poses a serious problem. I think all beardies are different so there for some environments should be slightly different then others.

Just keep your stupid comments to yourself.

Some products are created be companies who don’t think it out. Personally I think there is nothing wrong with calcium sand because it is made to be digestable if injested. However other animal products to pose series harm to the animals they claim to help.

For warning if you have a cat from a bad experience do not use Bio Spot for fleas they have terrible side effects for the majority of the cats that use it. Never go by just what a product says it does just because they can be misleading and untrue.

Calcium sand is not natural. It clumps together in their intestines and turns into a rock which then blocks them up leading to a prolonged and painful death. You can easily find vet xrays of this awful problem by googling it.

Need advice: I have a juvenile beardie, probably about 4-5 mos old. Over the last couple of weeks, he won’t let us touch him (not really sure of the sex yet, but we’ll say ‘him” for argument sake). We try to pick him up but he does everything he can to get away from us. We finally get him in our hands and he runs and leaps out of them. He runs from our touch. He didn’t do this the first 6 weeks of us owning him, only the last 2-ish. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

@blueskies469 Beared Dragons can have trust issues with owners, even after being fine for the first few weeks, when you say “us” how many people are trying to handle the beardie? try and keep it down to 1 person for now, you must build a relationship with your bearded dragon, offer treats by hand, at night when basking gently stroke the top of his head, if he closes his eyes hes starting to trust you.interact with him, speak to him, hes not just a pet but now a new friend and family member
